Lamby dies and Nona is lost

Nona was always laying on the other side of the fence next to the lamb like she was the mommy. they baa baa'd to each other and everything. Nona the goat NEVER went out of the lamb's view when she wandered off. It was the "If I can't see you, you can't see me" thing. Like we do with our own kids when they are little. Well last week Nona jumped the fence into them baby pen and started head butting the lamb. We don't know how long it went on. When Phillip saw it he streaked out the door and got Nona out. We moved Lambchop to another area by the house. She was dead the next morning. Neadless to say we have had to bury her :( No wooly goodness from our first sheep. I truly do not think the goat was being mean. I think she was doing her motherly goatness. I see them head butting all the time down the road. It's a terrible lesson to learn, but next time the babies will be far away from the adults I guess. Neighbor says by the looks of our goat she recently had babies herself and probably adopted the lamb as her own. Over all I think Derek and Nona took it the hardest. For 3 days Nona cried for Lambchop and wouldn't leave her area. Now she wanders around and seems happy. At least I hope she is. She stops by every evening now to visit at chicken feeding time for a snack, and let's the dog bark at her like a maniac.

Round 3 Smackdown Hat Finished

So Logan, Deven, AND Phillip are sick. PLENTY of time for knitting ;) . I finished the hat around 1:45pm this afternoon and Derek put in the mailbox for me. It's now on its way to sunny California. I used some yarn I received in a in my Ravelry group Karma Yarn Swap. Let's hope there's enough good Karma in that hat to move me to Round 4. That would be so awesome! Here's the pic

Ok No pic right Blogger acting funny and won't upload. I'll try again in a little while

Yarn Smackdown Round 3

I won round 2 due to mail delivery! Woohoo!! Off to Round 3 I go tomorrow. It will be a new pattern even. I'm going to use a blue tweedy yarn in my stash I recieved in a Karma Swap recently. Maybe it will keep the good luck flowing into Round 4 :D There are 5 rounds total. Not sure if I mentioned that before or not. This is really cool since I am usually out by the first round in this sort of thing. Come May I'll be in "Sock Wars" I hear it's vicious LOL

Flea Market finds

What did we find at the Flea Market in Belton on Saturday? I'll show you. 2 speckled hens and another Aruacana. This one has a muff. I talked the "the guys" (hubby included) from naming the goat "Nonuts" she is Nona. The lamb they are calling "Lambchop". She's a reall cutie! I just think she may have been taken away from her mom too soon. Of course I have no idea on breed or anything but she DOES have WOOL. Yay!!

Snakes!

Here is a picture of what "might" be mullberries and a close up of the back half of the snake

I was walking to a tree to show Phillip and ask him if he thought it was a mulberry tree, and he jerks me in another direction! Can you believe there was a snake in that tree just sitting there?! It looked like a rattlesnake w/o a rattle. So he shot it then he spent several hours on the internet looking for some info on what kind of snake it was and if it was poisonous. Come to find out it was a Texas Rat Snake. Not poisonous but aggressive. Had I kept walking it would/could have bitten me in the face. Talk about trauma. I don't do trauma well at all. Oh yea....This is the 2nd snake in two days for us. Last one was a garter snake both have been fairly long ones.

Yarn Smackdown Round 2

It was a battle of the mail delivery system and I won. So I made my hat and it is in the mail now on it's way to Michigan. I forgot to take a picture this time :( But it was purple green and beige. Turned out great I think. Another battle of mail delivery. My partner opponent says she mailed her hat the day before me! Uh oh....

The Colonel Has Arrived

Isn't he a handsome thing.?! And he is still a young guy. I don't know what kind he is, or if he even has a breed. He was a gift. He showed up at a friends house one day and he is MUCH too big for her banty hen. He'll have some lady friends soon I hope, but everyone is sold out.
